For 2 days at the Flaherty Primary School, and 1 day at the Flaherty Elementary School.
Flaherty Fire Department conducted Fire Prevention Safety training,
On Monday the 28th with the help of firefighters, we conducted a fire prevention safety training through the Child safety house. We had nine classes consisting of kindergarten, preschool, first grade , 2nd grade, and third grade with a total of 198 students. They got to see the fire truck engine 5031 with a Firefighter all dressed up in gear. Explain to them about the truck and also got to see Sparky, which they always love to see him.
On Tuesday the 29th we did the same thing as like Monday. We had eight classes with a total of 176 students preschool kindergarten first grade 2nd grade and third grade.
On Wednesday the 30th we conducted a auto extraction class a car versus ATV having multiple patients that needed help 1 patient was through the window, 1 patient on the ATV, Flaherty & Vine Grove firefighters and Meade County EMS
while the firefighters were extricating the patients EMS was treating the patients and transporting them . The kids really enjoyed seeing how this works and enjoy watching these patients being taken care of, we had over 300 students who attended this training exercise.
We would like to thank the schools for letting us come to their schools on these three days to teach the children about fire safety, and the auto extrication.

Flaherty Fire department received a Training Center Grant and with those funds added the following to our existing drill tower; four sides to the drill tower which consisted of a flat roof and vertical ventilation training prop, two bail out windows and a ladder in a cage for confined space training. This work was completed on 18 July by Affordable Drill Towers. Here are some pictures from a aerial view of the drill tower.
