Massachusetts stepped up BIG for falls prevention!

We collectively achieved 159,423,268 steps statewide, which crushed our 100 million step goal.

When a bluefish or bonito crosses the scale at the Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby headquarters in Edgartown, the angler who caught it must answer a question: “Would you like to donate to the fillet program?”

10/8/2026 Great progress on the roof here at the Tisbury COA! Plank by plank, we’re getting closer to a finished project that will keep our community space safe, welcoming, and ready for all the fun, friendship, and programs that happen here.

After the continued fundraising efforts and support from everyone in our community, work is well on its way! This is an important improvement for our building, and we’re grateful to everyone who has helped make this project possible through their time, generosity, and continued support.

We know that construction comes with some noise, activity, and disruption, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding as the work continues. We’re looking forward to seeing the project completed and having a safe, secure, and improved roof over our heads for years to come. Annette I. Sandrock, resident of MV for over 30 years, published her first book of poetry, ‘Labyrinth’ (2019) in Portugal and is honored to be registered in the National Library of Portugal. Her book, exclusively contains her poetry and images of pruned treetops of Crete.
The images from Labyrinth have taken on a life of their own, having been shown at Island libraries and virtually by PathwaysArts of Martha’s Vineyard as “an instrument to raise awareness of the personality and special sentience of trees, our companions and providers”. Through manipulation of her photographs, Ms. Sandrock uniquely captures trees as embodying spirits and personality traits of humanity and animals.
Her writing and poetry have appeared in several island anthologies as well as several Martha’s Vineyard publications.
