Kickapoo Valley Rescue Squad, Inc.

Kimberly, who has served as our assistant service director since 2022, joined the squad in 2016 to continue a family tradition. Her family members were not only squad members but some helped contribute to the founding of the squad in 1973!

Kimberly brings an excellent attitude and an overwhelming willingness to help out. In addition to being an EMT, Kimberly is responsible for scheduling standbys at the school football games and The Viola, WI Horse and C**t Show as well as overseeing the annual pancake breakfast.

We’re starting a new series to introduce the faces of the Kickapoo Valley Rescue Squad. We have 14 EMTs/EMRs who call our squad their #1. We want to recognize their dedication.

First up is our selfless leader, Steve. He’s been licensed with the squad since 2014. He was assistant service director before becoming our service director in 2022. When asked why he joined the squad, he said he “joined to help the community and be a part of something my family could be proud of.”

Steve responds to nearly all of our calls for service but what you don’t see is the hard work he puts in behind the scenes like making sure our license is current, handling personnel issues, and taking care of other administrative tasks.

We couldn’t do it without you, Steve!

EMR and EMT courses are starting in just a couple of weeks at Western Technical College. The KVRS will reimburse tuition fees if you join the squad and complete a 6 month probationary period. We can also pay you for each call you respond to! Have questions about what the coursework looks like, how our on call schedule works, or other things related to EMS? Send us a message!

The Emergency Services were greatly impacted by Mr. Harris. He taught many of us through all fields of EMS, Fire and HazMat. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
We send our heartfelt condolences to the Ted Harris family

Like all EMS providers in the area, we are always looking for more EMRs/EMTs. This is a list of classes offered by Wisconsin Technical College but other colleges like Southwest Tech also have options. Contact us if you have any questions about how to become an EMR or EMT!

We’re extending a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the pancake breakfast last Sunday. We had a phenomenal turnout and raised more than we have in previous years. We couldn’t continue our organization without your support.

We also want to once again thank those businesses that have donated to our annual breakfast: Organic Valley, Driftless Gold Organic Maple Syrup, Emplify Health by Gundersen St. Joes, and Driftless Provisions.
