Looking for an affordable office or creative workspace? A 187-square-foot studio is now available at St. Claude Arts for $350/month, utilities included.

This small space would be ideal for an office, crafting studio, or other quiet creative use. Please note that the studio does not have a sink and is not well suited for use as a sound studio.

St. Claude Arts is an initiative of the Meraux Foundation that provides affordable space for artists, small creative businesses, and the cultural community in St. Bernard Parish.

Interested? Call Wendy at 985-445-3065 for details about rent, layout, square footage, and availability.

The Meraux Foundation released a new impact report highlighting the success of its glass recycling initiative at Docville Farm, underscoring the program’s growing role in environmental sustainability and coastal resilience.

Since launching in May 2023, the Docville Farm drop-off hub has diverted 93,049 pounds of glass—equivalent to 186,097 bottles—from landfills, according to the report. To put that impact into perspective, those bottles would stack 141 times the height of the Eiffel Tower or stretch 31 times the length of Bourbon Street.

All collected glass is recycled locally by Glass Half Full into sand used for coastal restoration and cullet used to make new glass bottles.

Twenty-two years ago, St. Bernard Parish lost one of its most devoted champions, Arlene Meraux. Her passing in 2003 marked the end of a remarkable life, but the beginning of a legacy that continues to guide the parish forward.

When Arlene founded the Meraux Foundation, she asked her niece, Rita, to manage it with one clear instruction: use the land Arlene transferred to the foundation to improve the quality of life in St. Bernard. That simple principle still guides the work of the Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable Foundation.

Today, under the leadership of Board President Rita Gue and directors Floyd Gue, Bill Haines, Chris Haines, and Sidney Torres III, the Meraux Foundation continues to follow Arlene’s vision through a strategy centered on land use, education, the environment, economic development, arts and culture, and community resilience.
