RIP Captain Small

44th Anniversary LODD for Plaza Volunteer Rescue Captain John R. (Jack) Small.

During the early morning hours of October 3rd, 1982, Rescue Captain John R. (Jack) Small responded to a multiple vehicle accident on Rt. 44 (I-264) Eastbound near the Laskin Road exit. He complained that he wasn’t feeling well to his colleagues. When Jack returned home, he retired to his bed for the night and went into cardiac arrest shortly thereafter. Rescue Captain Small was transported to the hospital, crews were unable to resuscitate Jack and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Jack was 46 years old.

May we never forget the supreme sacrifices that our brother made for the citizens, Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad and the City of Virginia Beach.
