Our Family worked with Ms. Wingett during an extremely difficult and stressful period involving my aunt, Donie. Due to the condition of her home and her inability to safely manage her personal care, an emergency placement became necessary, when Adult Protective Services (APS) became involved. Navigating the many agencies, assessments, requirements, and difficult circumstances surrounding her care was overwhelming for our Family. Ms. Wingett became an invaluable advocate and guide throughout this process.
From the beginning, Ms. Wingett demonstrated herself to be competent, proficient, adept, accomplished, consummate, and truly an expert in her field. Her knowledge and experience were evident, but what stood out most was her unwavering commitment to ensuring that my aunt received the care and placement appropriate for her needs. This really meant a lot to our Family.
One of Ms. Wingett's most significant accomplishments was her work in completing and submitting the necessary application for Long-Term Care Medicaid. This process had been attempted three times previously over a period of four years without success. Ms. Wingett's diligence, expertise, attention to detail, and persistence ultimately resulted in the application being approved. This achievement provided our Family with an enormous sense of relief and security, knowing that my aunt's long-term care needs could be addressed.
Ms. Wingett was exceptionally diligent. She consistently monitored the progress of matters, identified what was needed, ensured that required documentation was submitted within the appropriate timeframes, and followed through until issues were resolved. She did not simply provide advice and step away; she remained engaged in the process and worked persistently toward meaningful solutions all while, making the process easier to comprehend.
Perhaps most importantly, Ms. Wingett served as a strong and knowledgeable advocate for my aunt when difficult situations arose. She directed, corresponded, communicated, and intervened with the nursing home, APS, social workers, and other individuals involved in my aunt's care. She helped navigate challenging issues involving UAI assessments, appropriate placement, and discrepancies concerning the facility's interpretation of my aunt's needs and proper level of care.
Ms. Wingett's understanding of the UAI assessment process was particularly valuable. She recognized the importance of my aunt's documented needs and advocated for those needs to be properly considered when questions arose regarding placement. When circumstances became complicated or communications became difficult, Ms. Wingett approached each situation with professionalism, knowledge, persistence, and determination.
Working with Ms. Wingett during this challenging time gave our Family something we desperately needed: someone knowledgeable and capable who would not give up when the process became difficult. She was willing to ask questions, seek clarification, communicate with the appropriate parties, and continue pursuing the matter until the necessary steps were taken.
I would describe Ms. Wingett as a consummate professional, an accomplished advocate, an expert in navigating complex care-related systems, and a true maven in her field. Her combination of knowledge, diligence, professionalism, compassion, and persistence distinguishes her from others who may simply perform the required tasks. Ms. Wingett genuinely invested herself in helping my aunt and our Family navigate an extraordinarily difficult chapter.
For these reasons, I offer my highest appreciation , respect, and strongest recommendation for Ms. Laura Wingett. Her contributions made a profound difference in our Family's ability to navigate my aunt's care, placement, and long-term financial and medical needs.
