280 building permits. $21.6 million in permitted construction value. 🏗️

In August, the Tulare County Resource Management Agency (RMA) issued 280 building permits in unincorporated Tulare County, representing approximately $21.6 million in permitted construction value.

These permits reflect continued investment in homes, additions, agricultural structures, solar projects, commercial development and other construction throughout the county.

Meet Gage Flack, a Heavy Equipment Mechanic II with the Tulare County Resource Management Agency.

Gage helps maintain the County’s fleet, including this armored SWAT vehicle used by the Tulare County Sheriff

His work requires technical knowledge, attention to detail, and an understanding of the specialized equipment that County personnel depend on.

While deputies are the ones responding to calls, professionals like Gage play an important role in making sure their vehicles are ready when they’re needed.

Gage is part of the talented team at the County’s Central Shop, where mechanics and staff maintain vehicles across County departments, from heavy equipment used to maintain our roads to specialized vehicles supporting public safety and other essential services.

Their work is invaluable, helping ensure County employees have the safe, reliable equipment they need to serve our communities.

We’re proud to recognize Gage and the entire RMA Central Shop team for the dedication, expertise, and care they bring to serving Tulare County!

A little Abbey Road, RMA edition. 🚸

Our Traffic Control team recently refreshed the yellow school crosswalk at Ivanhoe Elementary School in Ivanhoe. Before wrapping up, the crew took this awesome picture with Principal Jonna Rasner, walking single file across the freshly painted crosswalk.

Pictured (from right) are Jonna Rasner, Ivanhoe Elementary Principal, Fidel Galvan-Rodriguez, Traffic Control Worker II; Michael Deniz, Traffic Control Worker II; Jared Spuhler, Traffic Control Worker II; Carlos Pena, Traffic Control Worker II; and Aaron Chapa, Traffic Control Worker II.

California roadway standards call for yellow crosswalk markings near schools, helping make school crossings more visible to approaching drivers.

Nice work, Traffic Control. We think the album cover turned out great, too.

East Porterville residents are helping shape the future of their community.

This week’s East Porterville community meeting marked the kickoff of a year-long planning process, with approximately five additional community meetings expected over the coming months.

Residents worked directly with Tulare County RMA’s Economic Development & Planning team through interactive maps, bilingual polling boards and hands-on activities designed to capture what people value about East Porterville, what needs more attention and where they would like to see future improvements.

RMA staff including Assistant RMA Director of Economic Development & Planning Aaron Bock, Planning & Permit Manager Jason Garcia-LoBue, Planner III Emily Gage, Economic Development Manager Alida Verduzco Silva, Economic Development Analyst Alejandro Martinez, Geographic Information Systems Analyst II Andrea Miranda, and other community partners were there to talk with residents, answer questions and help facilitate the activities.

The most important part of the meeting came directly from the community. Residents placed stickers on priority boards, wrote comments, identified needs on maps and shared what they love about East Porterville in their own words.

That feedback will help inform the ongoing East Porterville Community Plan and gives the people who live there a direct role in the planning process.

The next community meeting is scheduled:
Thursday, November 12, 2026
6:00 p.m.
Alta Vista Elementary School.

Can’t make it to a meeting? Residents can also share feedback through the East Porterville Community Plan surveys linked here:

Thank you to everyone who came out, talked with our team, and shared their ideas for East Porterville. Special thanks to the Escuela Doyle team for hosting us. We will continue working closely with our school districts, the City of Porterville as our community’s neighbor, and numerous nonprofit and other stakeholders, including community members and businesses, to envision East Porterville’s future.
