Hello Chapter 83 Members,
We are proud to share the results of CSEA Chapter 83’s endorsement process for the 2026 VUSD Board of Education election.
But before sharing those results, we want to recognize something equally important: the process our members went through to get there.
This is what a strong union looks like.
Our members showed up. We listened directly to the candidates. We asked questions. We discussed the issues that matter to classified employees. Members shared different perspectives, raised thoughtful and valid points, listened to one another, and worked through those differences respectfully before independently casting their votes.
That is union democracy in action.
Board members make decisions involving district budgets, staffing, programs, policies, working conditions, reductions and layoffs, and many other issues that can directly affect classified employees and the students we serve.
We cannot wait until an issue directly affects our classification, department, worksite, or position before we begin paying attention.
We need our members watching. We need our members informed. And when necessary, we need our members in the room.
With nearly 1,700 classified employees, Chapter 83 has a powerful collective voice—but that voice is strongest when our membership is informed, engaged, and willing to participate.
Our endorsement process demonstrated exactly what we are capable of when we come together: we can disagree, discuss, listen, learn, and ultimately make decisions together as a union.
That is something worth being proud of.
Because advocacy does not begin when there is a crisis.
It begins by paying attention.
Thank you to every member who participated in this process and to every candidate who was willing to come before our membership and answer our questions.
Our work. Our voices. Our future.
