SEPTEMBER BY THE NUMBERS!🚒

Another busy month for the Visalia Fire Department!

In September, our firefighters responded to 1,421 calls for service, bringing our 2026 total to 12,906 calls so far. That’s 214 more calls compared to this time last year!

From structure fires and medical emergencies to everyday calls for help, our crews continue to show up when our community needs them most.

Behind every number is a call for help, a crew ready to respond, and a commitment to keeping Visalia safe.

Thank you to our firefighters for your hard work and dedication, day and night!❤️

OFFICIAL CPF LABOR ALERT: DO NOT APPLY
TO: All CPF District Vice Presidents, Local Presidents, and Members
FROM: California Professional Firefighters
SUBJECT: DO NOT APPLY – AMERICAN CANYON FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT
STATUS: ACTIVE SANCTION

Brothers and Sisters:
The American Canyon Fire Protection District is currently recruiting outside hires for the position of Battalion Chief, a position that is clearly represented by the Solano Napa County Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 1186. This outside recruitment was announced with no prior communication with our bargaining unit despite full knowledge that multiple current members within our own ranks will be ready and qualified to test for this promotional opportunity in February of 2027.

The decision by the American Canyon FPD Fire Chief was not only deceptive, but also serves as yet another example of recent decision-making policies that have led to detrimental services to our local community while undermining our union members who continue to strive to provide exceptional fire and emergency service to the City of American Canyon.

Legal Standing of the Notice
Cities have historically challenged these notices as illegal boycotts or defamation. However, the California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) ruled in precedents like City of Santa Maria (2020) that a “Do Not Apply” notice constitutes a presumptively protected communication under the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act (MMBA), affirming unions’ rights to publicize disputes.

09/09/2026

In remembrance of the 25th anniversary of September 11, our department will continue two traditions to honor those who lost their lives that day.

We will be doing our annual 343 Tower Climb, a department activity not open to the public, in honor of each of the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We will also participate in the regional 9/11 Memorial at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office alongside agencies throughout Tulare County. This memorial is open to the public; details are available on TCSO social media.

While we will not be hosting a public event at our department, we remain committed to honoring the lives, courage, and sacrifice remembered each September 11.

Never Forget 🇺🇸
