Added to Netflix recently added this excellent documentary on the inimitable Molly Ivins. If you are too young to have heard of her, Ivins was a fearless and masterful Texan writer who sniffed out virtually every hint of corruption in Texas politics for decades. It was an honor to meet Mr. Perkins not long before he saw his invaluable book published, just months before he passed. There’s no telling how many hours he researched to produce this work, which, to our knowledge, is only the second book ever written that attempts to record a broad overview of Black culture and communities in and around Waco. In this book, you can find information about St James and the surrounding neighborhoods, as well as others across the county. The book is available from WestBow Press and Amazon.
