The Wadesboro Police Department has recently received several concerns regarding vehicles improperly parked in designated accessible parking spaces.
Under N.C.G.S. § 20-37.6, vehicles using these spaces must display a valid disability placard or qualifying license plate, and the person to whom it was issued must be the driver or a passenger in the vehicle. Please also remember that striped access aisles, curb ramps, and curb cuts must remain clear.
Violations carry a $100–$250 penalty, and vehicles may also be towed.
Due to concerns from our community, officers will be paying increased attention to these violations and taking appropriate enforcement action.
These spaces are reserved for a reason. Please help us keep them available and accessible for those who need them.
