From The Chief's Desk: Received an Email from The Second Harvest Mobile Market. They will be returning to our area with the market again next to the fire station on Azalea Drive. The market will be here on the first and third Tuesdays of November. That will be Tuesday November 3rd and Tuesday November 17th form 9:30am until 11 am on both dates. Pass the word throughout the community and stop by and get items for your homes. Thank you to Second Harvest for returning to our community.

From The Chiefs Desk: I received an email from the Second Harvest Mobile Market staff. Do to the separation of staff members and the promotion of staff members. The mobile market is attempting to fill the need in order to operate the mobile unit. Unfortunately they have had to cancel the 2 dates in October which were Tuesday October 6th and Tuesday October 20th here at in the parking area by the fire station. The Organization of Second Harvest is diligently trying to fill the open staff positions and hope to have them filled soon so the market can return in November. Again, the Second Harvest Mobile Market has cancelled its October dates next to the Fire Station on Azalea Drive.
Please pass this information on to any and everyone who uses the mobile market in Waggaman.

We at Live Oak Manor Vol Fire Department send our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the Third District Volunteer Fire Department on the passing of Deputy Chief Derrick Kimball
Prayers to family and friends and coworkers.
RIP Chief Derrick Kimball.

It is with a heavy heart that the Third District Volunteer Fire Department announces the passing of Deputy Chief Derrick Kimball.
Chief Kimball was much more than a fellow firefighter. He was a friend, a member of our fire service family, and a Life Member of the Third District Volunteer Fire Department.
Throughout his years with TDVFD, Derrick dedicated himself to serving our department and the community. His commitment, friendship, and contributions to Third District Volunteer Fire Department will forever remain a part of our department’s history and legacy.
The fire service is a family, and today our family mourns the loss of one of our own. We extend our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to Derrick’s family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Deputy Chief Derrick Kimball, thank you for your years of dedication, service, friendship, and brotherhood. Your service will never be forgotten.
Rest easy, Chief. We’ll take it from here.
Service and memorial information will be announced at a later time as the Kimball family makes the necessary arrangements. We ask that everyone please keep Derrick’s family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

From Chief Miller: to everyone on our department page. We are aware of the posts or comments from unknown or fake accounts on our page. These posts are advertising the sale and purchase of fire department shirts and hoodies and other merchandise. This is a SCAM as we do not sell department merchandise to the public and at no time are these individuals giving money back to us. Please do not entertain the people or send anyone money. I or a representative of the department would speak at our civics meetings before we would proceed with fundraising activities. Again do not send anyone money for merchandise it is a SCAM.

From The Chiefs Desk:
As many of you from the Waggaman Community know Mr. Sam from our Foundation, S1 and civics groups.
He wanted to acknowledge a young man who is pictured with Mr. Sam and his grandfather.
Last week Xavier was at Thomas Jefferson Park by the library with friends. During their visit Xavier found some property that he knew someone had lost. Xavier and his friend then brought the property to the fire station, because they did not know what else or who else to tell.
The staff on duty was able to determine the property belonged to Mr. Sam, made contact with him and return it.
Mr. Sam wanted to meet on Monday at the station to acknowledge that Xavier did a very honorable thing by turning the property in. Also wanted to recognize the Fire Department for creating such a trust in our community that Xavier did not hesitate to come to the station.
I would like to thank Xavier for doing what was right, thank Mr. Sam for acknowledging Xavier and the department.
We are Waggaman and Waggaman is Us.
