25th Infantry Division History Spotlight for the week

in 1941, the 25th Infantry Division was activated at Schofield Barracks. The division was comprised of units from the old Hawaiian Division, which was established in 1921 to defend Hawaii. During a reorganization of Army divisions just before World War II, the Hawaiian Division was inactivated, and its units were reassigned to form the new 24th and 25th Infantry Divisions. The brand new division, under command of MG Maxwell Murray, was only eight weeks old when Japanese forces attacked Hawaii on December 7, 1941. That event became the first chapter of many in Tropic Lightning’s history.

Their sacrifice is forever part of our foundation.

As part of our 85th birthday celebration, the 25th Infantry Division honored our fallen warriors during the Memorial Brick Laying Ceremony at Schofield Barracks. Each brick preserves a legacy of service and sacrifice, connecting generations of Tropic Lightning Soldiers and reminding us of those who paved the way.

We remember. We honor. We carry their legacy forward.
