POTENTIAL FLOODING – SAUNDERS COUNTY

Residents and motorists should remain alert for the potential for flooding across Saunders County tonight and throughout the day Thursday.

Additional rainfall on already saturated ground may cause water levels to rise quickly in creeks, streams, drainage areas and other low-lying locations. As conditions change, some roads may become flooded or impassable.

Please use extra caution in our regular trouble spots, including low-water crossings, roads near creeks and drainage areas, and other locations that have historically experienced flooding.

Most importantly, DO NOT drive around road closure signs, barricades or emergency vehicles. If a road is closed, it is closed for a reason. Never attempt to drive through floodwater, even if the water appears shallow or you are familiar with the roadway.

Please follow all directions from law enforcement, fire departments, emergency management, highway departments and other first responders. Road conditions can change quickly, especially after dark when flooded roadways can be difficult to see.

Allow extra time for travel, consider alternate routes and continue to monitor weather and road conditions throughout tonight and Thursday.

09/13/2026

Severe weather is possible on Monday with multiple rounds of storms expected across the area (60-90% chance). If morning storms clear out earlier, the afternoon and evening risk will increase, with higher potential for damaging winds, very large hail, and even a strong tornado. Keep an eye on the weather!
