A heartfelt thank you to Christine from for the time, dedication, and hard work she has put into continuing the Gems and Jewelry fundraiser! ๐Ÿ’œ
Christine took over this third-party fundraising event from Mickey Ranalli, and thanks to the continued success of this initiative, thousands of dollars have been raised to support the Domestic Violence Resource Center of South County.
We are incredibly grateful to Christine for her commitment and to the URI students who helped make yesterdayโ€™s event a success, as well as everyone who stopped by and purchased jewelry. Your generosity and support make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals and families we serve.
Thank you for being part of our community and supporting our mission!

The Impact of Domestic Violence on Mental Health ๐Ÿ’œ

Domestic violence isnโ€™t just physical, it deeply affects emotional and psychological well-being, too. Survivors carry invisible wounds that can last long after the abuse ends.

Hereโ€™s how abuse can impact mental health:

๐Ÿ”น Emotional Distress
Feelings of guilt, shame, and fear often lead to low self-esteem and difficulty trusting others. Many survivors struggle to form new relationships, leading to isolation.

๐Ÿ”น Psychological Disorders
Survivors are at increased risk for PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Those with pre-existing mental health conditions face an even higher risk of experiencing abuse.

๐Ÿ”น Social Isolation
Abusers often cut victims off from support networks, making recovery more difficult and increasing vulnerability to further trauma.

๐Ÿ”น Long-Term Effects
The impact of abuse can last a lifetime, for survivors and their children. Kids who witness domestic violence may develop behavioral and emotional struggles, perpetuating cycles of trauma.

๐Ÿ’ฌ If you or someone you love needs support, DVRC is here. Our trauma-informed advocates and counselors provide free, confidential care to help survivors reclaim safety and healing.
