Friends of Beebe Library

Going to the concert today, or passing by the Americal Civic Center between 3-4 pm? Stop in and talk to Karen at the Friends of Beebe Library's table if you don't know the difference between the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library and the Friends of Beebe Library. Or if you need to renew your membership to the Friends, or would like to join for the first time!

The Friends of Beebe Library, a non-profit, community-based group, was formed in 1972 to provide support for special activities, services and initiatives of the Wakefield, MA public library. Hundreds of your neighbors support the Friends through dues and as volunteers.

You'd like to support the Library's programming, but you don't need a chicken pie. Buy one anyway, and donate it to the Wakefield Food Pantry. The WFP will be at the Americal Civic Center tomorrow afternoon (3-4 pm), so in one visit you can buy the card ($20) and donate it, making two of Wakefield's non-profits happy at once. This idea came from someone who purchased several Harrows cards and asked us to donate them.

Stay Fit with Programs at the Beebe Library!!

Introducing Anywhere Active

Exercise! Do I really have to pay for a gym membership or costly classes?
The Lucius Beebe Memorial Library has a wonderful new e-resource called Anywhere Active, which allows you to enjoy free virtual exercise classes from the comfort of your home. You'll find this resource at https://awactive.org/wakefieldlibrary, and you can also get there via the Beebe website using the Research & Learning Resources tab under Books & More at the top of the main page.

Anywhere Active has a selection of on-demand classes (available to view anytime), as well as live, online classes that you can register to attend. Offerings include yoga, weight training, qigong, and much more, and are suitable for a variety of different fitness levels.

If you have questions about using this resource, the Reference Desk is only a phone call away. The Friends of Beebe is funding this wonderful new way to keep moving and we hope that all members of the community will join us.

Book drop-offs. We keep receiving (and answering) emails and messages asking "When is your next book donation drive?" Frankly, we don't know. We expect to meet with the Town Administrator and the head of the DPW at the end of this month or early November to find out whether we will be able to use the Hurd for another year. Please be patient and stay tuned.
