As we celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, the Wakita Volunteer Fire Department wants to remind everyone to celebrate safely.

🎆 Fireworks are fun, but they can also be dangerous. Please remember:
• Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.
• Never allow young children to handle fireworks without close adult supervision.
• Light one firework at a time and move away quickly.
• Never relight a firework that doesn’t go off.
• Keep spectators at a safe distance.
• Soak used fireworks in water before throwing them away.
• Be mindful of dry grass and windy conditions, as fireworks can quickly start a fire.

If you’re celebrating with a campfire or grill, never leave it unattended and make sure it’s completely extinguished before heading home.

Have a fun, safe, and happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸 From all of us at the Wakita Volunteer Fire Department, thank you for helping keep our community safe.
