Cold & Flu Season Is Here!
As we head into the colder months, colds, flu, and other seasonal illnesses tend to make their rounds in our schools and communities. A few simple habits can help keep everyone a little healthier!
A few friendly reminders:
Wash hands often with soap and water, especially before eating and after coughing, sneezing, or using the restroom.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your elbow.
Keep hands away from your eyes, nose, and mouth as much as possible.
Clean frequently touched surfaces at home and encourage good hygiene habits.
Stay up to date on recommended vaccines, including seasonal flu vaccination.
Stay home when sick. If your child isn't feeling well enough to participate in their usual school activities, rest at home can help them recover and reduce the spread of illness.
When should your child stay home?
Fever: A temperature of 100.4°F or higher means your child should stay home. Children should be fever-free for at least 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.
Vomiting or diarrhea: Children should remain home until they have been free of vomiting and diarrhea for at least 24 hours after the last episode before returning to school.
Nausea or feeling unwell: If your child is experiencing significant nausea or isn't feeling well enough to participate in normal school activities, please keep them home to rest and recover.
We know that illness is sometimes unavoidable, and we appreciate our families' help in keeping our school communities healthy. A little extra care goes a long way!
Wishing everyone a healthy and happy fall!
