Waldoboro Police Department The Waldoboro Police Department provides 24-hour police services to all businesses and residents. And much, much more!

The Waldoboro Police Department provides 24-hour police services to the businesses and residents of the Town of Waldoboro. These services are provided with a staff which consists of a Police Chief, a Sergeant, four full-time officers, a School Resource Officer, several reserve officers, and a public safety secretary. We have four police cruisers to patrol our streets and respond to calls and one police ATV used during special events and to patrol local trails. Although our primary function is to maintain law and order and to protect the lives and property of the citizens of our community, we are often seen performing other types of community services. Some of these services include:

-The shellfish management program.

-Business checks at night to ensure a shop owner has not forgotten to lock up.

-Working with our youth in and around our schools.

-Checking on the elderly.

-Delivering emergency messages when a person does not have a telephone.

-Participating in committee meetings regarding community improvement.

If it's on FaceBook then it must be true!?!? Well, unfortunately it is right now. There are some local businesses that have posted to "The Book of Face" that they have recently been burglarized. This is a fact! BUT it does not stop there...many UNLOCKED vehicles have also fallen victim to the thieves.

We live in Maine for a reason. One of them is because it is "The Way Life Should Be." Some of us grew up never locking our doors. We certainly never would have thought of having surveillance cameras at our houses.

It appears as though some people have not gotten the memo. Maybe there are books at the library they could sign out???... "If It's Not Yours Then Don't Touch It!"

LOCK ALL YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS. If you see something suspicious in "the 'hood" then give us a call. Please keep a good eye on your neighbor's property too, that's just what we do around here.

Officer Heine, "What do you do on a hot day?" Lemonade stands in town never disappoint! Looks like everyone pictured here had a good time.

It was the last break that Ofc. Heine got before going off to the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. His first week is now in the books and he is on the countdown for 17 MORE! Hopefully the sugar from that refreshment will hold him over. Those smiles will last him forever.

Pictured is a Person of Interest to the Waldoboro PD. This is not to be confused with the popular 2011 drama series...although that was a blast to watch. They of course could solve any mystery within 45 minutes, if you could fast forward the commercials.

We are pretty sure that we could make our own series from all of the video footage that we watch every week at our local grocery and convenience stores. It could get ugly in the office though with disputes to see who would play the Leading Officer. You've probably never seen cops play Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Do you recognize this person? Do you know her name? Do you know how or where we might find her? Please contact Sgt. Joslyn through the Lincoln County Dispatch non-emergency line with any pertinent information...207-832-4500.

When I think of summer I think of ICE CREAM. Maybe with a little something extra on the top??? LIke...whip cream, jimmies, oreo chunks, peanut butter swirl...you know, all the good stuff. BUT that's just me...or is it???

Rumor has it that KIDS like ice cream too?!?! Well, since that just might be the case then The Waldoboro Police Department has partnered with A Twist of Moody's Ice Cream to bring young people a token of our appreciation.

You will find that the WPD Officers have geared up with a new gadget on their uniforms. They are now "locked and loaded" with a Gift Card for ONE free ice cream to a little gem of an ice cream stand located right next to Moody's Diner.

This is just like getting a Golden Ticket to the Wonka Factory. To get your hands on one of these you must EARN it!! We are going to be looking out for those sons and daughters who are doing the right thing, being safe, and going the extra mile. It could be just as easy as wearing a helmet while riding a bike...OR...holding the door for someone at the store...OR...helping take care of brothers and sisters while your parents deal with a situation...OR...it could also be someone just having a rough day and needs a little bit of a lift. When the officers witness an impressive act they just might have a reward.

Chief Lash is still upset about his loss to "The Smeltzer." He keeps saying, "But I had all the good toppings on my custom Sundae dish. I just don't get it." We might make him the first recipient just to help boost his morale. A happy Chief always makes for a good working environment!

Reports of speeding run rampant all over town. Some drivers live by the motto "I feel the need...the need for speed" (Top Gun). Sooooooooo, we swore in a few new Junior Officers today and had a training exercise.

The whole family got to try out the radar gun!! They took turns sharing and were sure to not point it at their mother. The mail truck was by far the slowest vehicle passing through the area. Mom made sure that we did some math practice while we talked about how fast over or under the cars were traveling. The kids often beat me to the answer. They wore their shiny new badges with pride.

Several cars were stopped during the detail and multiple violations were resolved. Neighbors asked if we could sit a cruiser there every day as everyone seemed to slow down.

It's a warm day out there folks. Maybe even worth a trip to the beach...with your buddies!?!? Great idea to hit the store along the way. Make sure you stay hydrated and keep your beverages cool.

The good folks at Family Dollar would appreciate it if you would just swing through the CHECK-OUT line first though and actually pay $$$ for the cooler and supplies. Maybe Venmo is even an option.

Did anyone sit next to these people working on their tans today? Did they offer you a cold one?? By any chance did they introduce themselves and tell you their names? We are guessing not because they obviously have problems with their manners.

Their get-away vehicle isn't quite as obvious on the road as the Bat Mobile would be, but maybe you saw it in town today. Can you make out the license plate? A few of us wear progressive lenses and even those aren't helping from this angle.

If you happen to have any pertinent information then a call to our local dispatch center would be great (207-832-4500). As you talk to those nice folks please let them know that Ofc. Collamore is knee deep in his aggressive pursuit of these "felonious" (had to look that one up) individuals.

MVHS graduation was last night. There were many young adults there who are all moving on with their lives. Some will be leaving for college shortly, as the summers continue to get shorter as we age. Some will be jumping right into the workforce soon so that they can afford to move out and live one their own. Yet, others are packing their bags, as you read this, to leave for beautiful and stress free places called Boot Camp! Wherever the wind takes them we wish them success!!

There was a sea of Blue and Gold spread out in front of the proud parents, family, and friends. Colored sashes were adorned by students who excelled in some categories...word has it they are wicked smaht! Teachers were there to see the "Fruits of their labors." The cops were there to remind them for one last time that the speed limit on Manktown Road is 40 mph.

The weather was fine if you were wearing Bermuda shorts and a polo. Long pants and a 25 lbs. vest was not exactly optimal. Lots of cold Poland Springs and a hand-full of freeze pops made it bearable though. Even Waldoboro Emergency Medical Service was on standby because of the climbing temperatures. It was by far the most cars that we have helped to park at this event in many years. We wish to thank the patrons for their co-operation in getting in and out of the event without incident.

Many years ago (there is absolutely no need to do the math on this) there was a Waldoboro Officer who graduated from here also as a proud Panther. Back then the ceremony was held in the gym and it was definitely hotter inside than it was outside. All students marched in by height and therefore received their diplomas in that order. Amidst the sweltering heat and humidity fellow students kept turning around and telling him to just go up and grab his so that this all could be over. He was the last to walk across the stage for his class. Who was this mythical man and what year did he graduate?

Sorry for the late post but, we are all still trying to recover from the heat exhaustion from last night. The AC units have been working overtime the last two days.

***SPECIAL OLYMPICS OF MAINE*** Annual Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run (for Special Olympics). Coming through town again this year...TOMORROW!! Tuesday June 2nd sometime after noon the Torch will be handed over to the Waldoboro Police Department at the Nobleboro town line on Atlantic Highway. It will travel north to the Knox County line to continue on it's journey.

Many of us have participated in the run over the years and some continue to do so by beating their feet on the pavement. The culmination of this event is the Special Olympic Summer Games that are held in Orono, but the Chief said that he is only running as far as Warren.

Along the way there are plenty of opportunities to help support these guys and girls out spreading awareness: honk, yell encouragement, make a sign, clap, cheer, offer cold water. If you are feeling really energetic then you certainly can join right in...just please keep the pace to those of us who only do this once a year.

THANK YOU to all who participate and especially to those who VOLUNTEER their time throughout the year to make this event happen and run smoothly. Personally, this will mark my 26th anniversary of participation and I look forward to being involved with it every year....from the comfort of my support vehicle (AC, water, and snacks readily available).
