Last night, our members and leadership came together to celebrate 30 years of proudly serving the Charles County community. The evening also marked our first annual banquet as an independent department and the installation of our newly elected officials.

It was a special night honoring our history, celebrating those who continue to serve, and looking ahead to the future of Westlake Fire & EMS. Thank you to Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, Inc. and Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad Inc. for providing fill-in staffing, and No Sauce QUE for catering. A special thank you to JW King and Chrissy Weeks-King for guiding us through the evening with professionalism.

🚨 Every Call Is an Opportunity to Educate 🚒

Westlake Volunteers were dispatched to a residence in our first-due area for the report of an automatic smoke alarm activation.

Upon arrival, crew members met with the homeowner and determined the alarm had been accidentally activated. After ensuring there was no emergency, the Rescue Engine 12 crew took the opportunity to provide valuable fire and life safety education.

Members assisted the homeowner with properly resetting the smoke alarm, explained what can cause accidental activations, and answered questions about the home’s smoke alarm system. These interactions help residents better understand their life-saving equipment and ensure they’re prepared should a real emergency occur.

Before returning to service, the crew also spent a few minutes showing the homeowner’s grandchildren around the fire engine. Moments like these help build positive relationships within our community while inspiring the next generation and making firefighters a familiar, friendly face.

Whether responding to an emergency or providing safety education, Westlake Volunteers are proud to serve our community every day.

Engine Company 12 was dispatched first-due to a garage fire in the 9300 block of Clifford Dr on June 25, 2026. The crew had water on the fire just 90 seconds after setting the parking brake.

Company 12 was dispatched for the first due house fire @4:17am on June 5th, 2026. Rescue Engine 12 arrived to the 5700 block of Yellowtail Court to find fire from the bravo side garage climbing up the house siding. Company 12 and responding units extinguished the same. Chief 12A held command.
