Children who are drawn to science thrive at West Michigan Academy. Farmland, nature trails, forest, wetlands, prairies, and working gardens are among the outdoor classrooms on our 62-Acre campus. Every day, students have an up-close, hands-on opportunity to study a wide variety of ecosystems. West Michigan Academy provides students with the culture and environment needed to be successful. Our students reap the additional benefits of programs and practices such as character education, accelerated learning, differentiated instruction, traditional discipline, accountability for the one's actions, and a demonstration of mutual trust and respect among students, parents and teachers alike - all hallmarks of a charter school education. 🔧 STEAMing into Thursday! 🧱

Last week in Ms. Hosmer’s Tech class, our TK-5 students put their engineering skills to the test with building challenges and Lego creations. The results were some pretty cool builds! 🚀

From problem-solving to teamwork to plain old creativity, these young engineers showed what hands-on learning looks like.

Great work, builders! 👏

We were honored to welcome Rep. Carol Glanville to West Michigan Academy of Environmental Science this month! She spent time connecting with our students and staff and learning firsthand about the impact our school is making in the community. She even presented us with a special tribute recognizing our designation as a Tree Campus K-12 by the Arbor Day Foundation!

📱 A quick reminder for families: Michigan’s Public Act 2 of 2026 requires cell phones, tablets, and smartwatches to be put away during instructional time.

Smartwatches count because they can text, call, and go online. Time-only watches are fine. During class, devices should be turned off or silenced and stored in backpacks or student lockers.

Exceptions include approved medical needs, such as glucose monitors; IEP or 504 accommodations; school-issued learning tools like Chromebooks; and true emergencies.

These guidelines are intended to help students stay focused and reduce digital distractions. Questions about how this works at our school? Contact the main office. Thank you for your support! ✨
