YWCA Walla Walla On a mission since 1917 to enrich the lives of women and their families. Visit us at www.ywcaww.org. YWCA has almost 250 associations across the United States.

Throughout our history, YWCA has been in the forefront of most major movements in the United States as a pioneer in race relations, labor union representation, and the empowerment of women. Founded in 1858 and headquartered in Washington D.C., YWCA is the voice for every woman. YWCA is where women turn to join a dynamic community united by a passion for positive social change, racial justice and economic empowerment. We work to influence public policies on behalf of women and people of color. We speak out on behalf of women and girls and what they face today: racial, ethnic and gender disparities; domestic violence and sexual assault; a lack of affordable childcare and after-school programs; the urgency for job training in a struggling economy; the shortage of transitional and low-cost housing; and the high cost of health care. Today, YWCA represents 2 million women, girls and their families in the United States and 25 million women worldwide. YWCAs can also be found in more than 100 countries. YWCA Walla Walla has been enriching the lives of women and their families since 1917.

Jenniffer and several other YWCA staff showed up for a Purple Friday photo in front of the Walla Walla University administration building. Students and staff from the Center for Humanitarian Engagement, who helped us out with promoting and organizing our domestic violence walk last week, set up a table to help educate the campus population about intimate partner violence.

💜 TOMORROW IS PURPLE FRIDAY! 💜

Dig out that purple shirt, rock the purple shoes, put on a purple ribbon—or go full-on purple from head to toe. (Bonus points for purple hair.) Whatever your style, wear purple tomorrow to show your support for survivors of domestic violence!

📸 Then take a selfie and share it! Post your purple look, tag us, and help paint our community purple. The more purple, the better!

Let’s show survivors they’re not alone. 💜

One week to go! October 26 is the deadline to register to vote in Washington online or by mail!

Head to VoteWA.gov to check your registration and make sure you’re ready to get that “I VOTED!” feeling. ❤️

Some of our friends shared how voting makes them feel, and we’d love to hear from you, too! What does voting feel like to you? Let’s share ALL the feels. ❤️

P.S. Washington State gives procrastinators a little breathing room! 😉 You can register in person at your county elections office through Election Day and still cast your ballot. Just remember: ballots must be returned by 8 p.m. on Election Day!

Can you help us harvest some hope for families in our valley? 🧡

In 2025, Blue Mountain Action Council Inc (bmacww) and community partners formed Harvest for Hope to help local households facing the loss of SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits because of federal cuts.

Donation barrels like this one are located throughout the community, making it easy to pitch in a few nonperishable grocery items.

There’s no prize for collecting the most food. But we’d be proud to say, “YWCA supporters showed up for our neighbors facing food insecurity.”

Let’s see what we can do together! 🧡
