Recently, Wallace Fire helped fulfill one of the final wishes of George White, a 97-year-old Navy veteran and Daysprings Assisted Living patient, to get back into an 18-wheeler truck. The experience was very meaningful for George, who loves truck driving and spent more than 30 years behind the wheel. He also served two stints in the Navy, including during the Korean War.

Several truckers and trucks arrived for a 10:30 a.m. celebration at the facility for George White. He got into a truck and honked the horn.

As a department, we have been blessed and achieved a lot over the past two months. Here’s a quick recap:

- 5 members have become State Certified Emergency Vehicle Drivers.
- 33/34 members are now certified in Traffic Incident Management Systems.
- Multiple members will begin the FIP 3040 General and Communications course on October 1st.
- We are starting our annual hose testing this week.
- We’ve had several nights of training focused on offensive and defensive fire attack techniques.

In the last two months, we have also responded to one mutual aid call with Pender for an agricultural equipment fire. We also responded to multiple false fire alarms and several motor vehicle collisions.

With three months left in the year, we anticipate staying just as busy as we have been. Thank you to our community for your continued support.

At Wallace Fire, all new firefighter candidates undergo a 12-month probationary period. During this time, they must complete a rigorous training program before participating in live burn exercises and interior fire suppression activities. Welcome to the team, Casey and Frederick!!

9/11 NEVER FORGET.

25 years ago, on this day, changed many lives. We sit in silence and remember all the innocent lives that were lost that day.

Always in our hearts.
