It is with great sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of David Weaver. And it is with immense gratitude that we acknowledge his work as a historian of Wallowa County. David has been a fierce advocate and generous educator, and his legacy remains in our valley with his work, and with those he loved and who love him.

Our 2026 Tamkaliks Celebration and Friendship Feast this Summer was such a beautiful gathering at the wal'áwa Homeland!
This year our poster, program, and t-shirts featured tiwíiteqis (aka Old Chief Joseph), as this year marks the 100th anniversary of his reburial and memorial dedication at Wallowa Lake.
Read more about tiwíiteqis and the monument in Joseph in the pages from this year's Tamkaliks Program.
We would love to hear about your memories from this year's Tamkaliks Celebration - share your photos and highlights in the comments below!
