Announcement time!!!!
Six years ago we started hiring part-time paramedics and EMT-B’s to help us answer EMS calls during the weekdays, as most of our members work out of town or are in the agricultural setting. With time, things have changed to where the need for part-time members increased- now to where we sometimes have two people on shift together for at least 12 hours due to the increase in call volume. Sometimes these members can be on shift from 12-36 hours, depending on what they choose.
With that said, the department has owned the house directly to the East of the firehouse. If you’ve driven or walked by in the last few months, you have probably seen members working inside the home or things sitting in the backyard. The members are currently working hard to renovate this home for the part-time members, giving them a more open space with bedrooms, bathrooms, and an updated kitchen for them to make meals. It’s taken some time, but it’s close to being done! The funds from the fundraiser we had in August were used to help renovate the home.
We felt the need to make this announcement to assure you as a community that we are not going anywhere. The care we provide will continue to be top notch and above the gold standard. This also means a faster response time for EMS calls when there are two people on shift!
But also, we need more help from you. With this house we are in need of furniture. We are looking for any furniture that is gently used and is in good condition to place in the house for our members. Please contact the page if you have something you are willing to sell/donate! We are greatly appreciative of your help and support.
Take a look at some of the work done to the house already!
