A Proud Milestone for Waltham Police!

Earlier today, the Waltham Police Department was officially awarded its ninth re-accreditation by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC), marking the department’s 10th accreditation award overall.

WPD made history in 1999 as the first police department in Massachusetts to be awarded accreditation and has maintained its accreditation status ever since.

Accreditation demonstrates WPD’s ongoing commitment to professional standards, best practices, accountability, and excellence in serving our community.

Congratulations to our dedicated officers and staff on this outstanding accomplishment!

Today, our two newest academy graduates were sworn-in at City Hall. Officers Isabella DiGiorgio and Jonathan Campana completed six months of rigorous academic study and physical training at the NECC Police Academy in Haverhill.

They will now enter our structured Field Training Program where they will be paired with veteran training officers who will continue instructing and observing them as they perform their duties.

Please join Chief O'Connell and the entire WPD in wishing them long, healthy, and prosperous careers!

Chief O'Connell and members of the department had a great time connecting with members of our community this morning at the Mobil Mart, 1033 Trapelo Road.

There was plenty of delicious coffee, tasty treats, and—most importantly—great conversation! Opportunities like these allow us to get to know the people we serve, listen to our community, and continue building trust and strong relationships.

A big thank you to Mobil Mart for welcoming us and helping create a meaningful opportunity to connect with our community.

We appreciate everyone who stopped by to share a cup of coffee and conversation with us. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
