The Westfield Fire Department recently fought a home fire that started with an overloaded power strip. Most commercial power strips and extension cords can overheat and fail if used to power a heavy appliance or many smaller devices at once. Congratulations to former Auxiliary member Sean Sullivan, who graduated to be a full time firefighter with the City of Waltham.

Let's hear it for the members of Career Recruit ! They graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy this morning after 10 long weeks of foundational training from experienced firefighters who are also certified instructors.

Now they're off to protect their communities with the Fire Department, Auburnmassfire, Billerica Fire | MA, FD, Danvers Fire Department, Malden Fire Department, Methuen Fire Department, Northborough Fire Department, Revere Fire Department, Southborough Fire Department, FD, FD, Westborough Fire Department, Westwood Fire, and FD.

This afternoon, our Air Supply Unit and Lighting Plant 2 responded to the 2nd alarm fire on Cross Street in Waltham to fill SCBA bottles used during the fire.

If you're using an air conditioner to stay cool, remember that ACs and other heavy appliances should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet -- not an extension cord or power strip. Last night, Waltham Auxiliary Firefighters participated in the city’s fireworks celebration - Lighting Plant 2 was utilized in Landry Park area to illuminate the American flag.
