A couple Wednesday’s ago our members had scheduled a “Station Cleaning” night complete with a rented dumpster. It was past time to get rid of unneeded items that we have accumulated over time and give the station a good cleaning. Chief Ellison had run across a gentleman that was looking for items for a fire museum and invited him to come get what he wanted.

What we knew going into that night was we were gonna do some house cleaning, what we didn’t know was we were gonna get the privilege of meeting an extraordinary young lady named Morgan Weiss. Morgan has Downs Syndrome and a heart issue as well. Her family had been in the fire service for over 30 yrs, though none of her family is currently serving, she wanted to open a fire museum in Sandoval and was needing retired equipment to fill it…..that’s where we come in.

They are currently renovating a building in Sandoval to house her museum, they have received help from a lot of kind people in their area to get it up and going, they hope to have it open in the near future and we can’t wait to see it!! They have also gotten retired equipment from other local FD’s as well.

Morgan and her parents created her foundation known as “Downs, Daughters and Dads Foundation”, her story can be found on her page. Btw, Morgan is “The Boss” of her foundation and that is without a doubt the truth!!

She is a hoot and she made our boring cleaning night an absolutely fun night! We kept piling her trailer and SUV full of retired fire stuff that will be awesome for her museum and showcase a big part of our depts history.

Tomorrow (Tuesday the 8th), Morgan is having a serious heart procedure to try and fix a major issue which has her and her parents concerned to say the least. (You can read all about this and her story on her FB page) Morgan will be in our thoughts and prayers and we ask all of our citizens to do the same, because we all love her and are truly blessed to have met her and found a new friend. Again, she was a blast to hang out with and we are all better for the experience. I guarantee you, you can’t get nothing by her, she will call you out for sure!!

So again, please keep her and her family in your thoughts tomorrow and during her recovery as we will be keeping tabs on her as well. We told her to do exactly what her doctors say for recovery cuz she has an important event November 11 to attend in Waltonville as she will be our special guest in our parade, you might wanna hold your ears as she will be making a lot of noise for us!!
