Tonight, Wanaque Borough Fire Companies 1 & 2 conducted a vehicle extrication drill involving a simulated tree that had fallen onto a vehicle, with a victim trapped in the rear seat of a two-door Chevy Blazer.

Members from both companies worked together to safely stabilize the vehicle and perform the necessary cutting, prying, and extrication techniques to gain access to the victim and successfully remove them from the rear of the vehicle.

Training like this allows our members to practice working together, using our equipment effectively, and preparing for the challenges they may face during real-world emergencies.

Great work by everyone involved tonight!

Train like you fight. Fight like you train!

Interested in joining? We are available every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. Stop by and pick up an application. We are always looking for new members! Ages 16 and up.

The Wanaque Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to Paul Bryan and Donald P. Gainer Jr., members of the Good Ol’ Haskell, NJ Facebook group, for sharing these incredible photos of Wanaque Borough Fire Department’s original apparatus.

Paul Bryan shared:

“Some Wanaque Borough Fire Department photos from the collection of Donald P. Gainer Jr. A couple are recognized as being taken in Pompton Lakes. Exact locations for the others is unknown, could possibly be from Paterson or other nearby towns.”

We are grateful to have the opportunity to see these photographs and get a glimpse into the history of our department. Photos like these help preserve the memories of the apparatus, members, and calls that helped shape Wanaque Fire Department throughout the years.

Thank you, Paul and Donald, for sharing these pieces of Wanaque Fire history with us and our community. We truly appreciate you helping keep the history alive!

We would’ve shared the original post, but unfortunately Wanaque Fire was not allowed access to the page. All photo credit goes to Paul Bryan and Donald P. Gainer Jr..

We shall NEVER FORGET 9-11-2001. In our hearts and minds this is a day that we will ALWAYS REMEMBER those that died while under Terrorist attack. WE remember and Thank all the Firefighters and EMS that lost their life we attempting to save thousands under attack in New York City, Shanksville, PA and Washington DC. We also thank all the first responders that survived this horrific attack. This attack did not just affect these major points but our entire country was under attack. NEVER FORGET what these terrorists did to our country. They thought they would destroy us, but we are a STRONG and UNITED Country. We showed them what Resilience and Strength will do. Let us never lose this Love and Support of our country.
