The Pine Ridge Service Unit Leadership Team is pleased to announce that the Pine Ridge Service Unit Hospital and Clinics have successfully completed the full Hospital Accreditation Program triennial survey and have been re-accredited for Hospital Accreditation, Patient-Centered Medical Home, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) deemed status through June 19, 2029.
Maintaining CMS deemed status is essential to the Service Unit’s ability to continue billing Medicare and Medicaid for eligible services provided to our patients. These reimbursements help strengthen the financial sustainability of our hospital and clinics and support continued investment in patient care and operations by maximizing available healthcare resources for our communities.
The Pine Ridge Service Unit continues to lead the way within the Indian Health Service by advancing best practices, providing high-quality care, and fostering a great place to work. This achievement reflects our continued commitment to excellence in patient safety, quality of care, and service to the communities we serve, while advancing the Indian Health Service mission, in partnership with American Indian and Alaska Native people, “to raise their physical, mental, social and spiritual health to the highest level.”
We extend our sincere appreciation to our outstanding employees and staff. This accomplishment would not have been possible without your teamwork, dedication, professionalism, and commitment to our patients, our communities, and the Indian Health Service mission. Congratulations to the entire Pine Ridge Service Unit team on this outstanding achievement!

Thank you,

We value your feedback and would love to hear about your experience with Outpatient Ambulatory Care Services (Outpatient Department, Pediatrics Department, and Specialty Clinics).

Your feedback helps us identify opportunities to improve our services and gives you an opportunity to recognize staff members who provided exceptional care or service.

Improving patient care and customer service is one of our top priorities. We are pleased to offer two convenient ways to complete the Patient Experience Survey:

• Electronic Survey: Scan the QR code to complete the survey electronically. Please select the QR code for the location where you received services. The facility name is identified above each QR code.

• Paper Survey: Paper survey forms are also available for those who prefer to complete the survey by hand. Please ask an MSA (Medical Support Assistant), and they will be happy to provide you with a paper survey.

Patient Experience Surveys are available for the following Pine Ridge Service Unit (PRSU) locations:

• Pine Ridge Hospital
• Kyle Health Center
• Wanblee Health Center
• Lacreek Clinic

When completing the electronic survey, please make sure you scan the QR code for the appropriate location. The facility name located above each QR code identifies the location for which you are submitting your survey.

Surveys may be completed at any time. Your feedback, suggestions, and recognition of our staff are greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Protect our Communities from Opioid Overdose

Opioid Overdoses are Serious
Opioid overdose is a serious public health concern in our communities and across the nation. Prescription pain medicines like oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, fentanyl, and illegal drugs like he**in can slow or stop a person's breathing. This can lead to death if help does not come in time. Naloxone is a medicine that can quickly reverse an opioid overdose. It is safe, easy to use, and is available without a prescription.

Get Naloxone Without a Prescription at Pine Ridge Service Unit (PRSU) Pharmacies
PRSU pharmacies will provide one box of naloxone per pharmacy visit.
When you ask for naloxone, staff will only need:
• Your name
• Your date of birth

When Should Naloxone Be Used?
Use naloxone if someone:
• Will not wake up
• Is breathing very slowly or has stopped breathing
• Has blue or gray lips or fingertips
• May have taken opioids

Naloxone will not hurt someone if their breathing problem is caused by something other than opioids.

Call 911 Right Away
After giving naloxone:
1. Call 911 immediately.
2. Stay with the person.
3. Give another dose if needed until help arrives.

Having naloxone nearby can help protect our entire community.

If you have questions about naloxone, contact any of the PRSU pharmacies:
Pine Ridge Pharmacy: 605-867-3093 Kyle Pharmacy: 605-455-8227
Wanblee Pharmacy: 605-462-5611 Lacreek Pharmacy: 605-685-2890

If you have a community group and would like naloxone training for your group, please contact the Pine Ridge IHS Hospital Pharmacy at 605-867-3093.

Greetings,

We have an important announcement for the patients of the Wanblee Health Center. Beginning Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, the pharmacy will begin moving into its new location. The pharmacy will be operating at a reduced capacity. Refill requests will be processed the following day, Wednesday, July 8th, 2026. Please plan accordingly and, if needed, request refills ahead of time.

This improvement project will require a temporary relocation of our medication pick-up window. While construction will continue, Wanblee pharmacy is expected to be fully operational in its new location on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026,.

Clinic appointments and other services will not be affected.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Wanblee Health Center at 605-462-6155.
