We are excited to share WFD was awarded a grant for $18,000 from the Department of Fire services to purchase much needed equipment for our apparatus and personnel. The grant was used to purchase rescue bail out ropes for each trained member to bail out of a structure in case they need to self rescue. A multi-gas meter which is used on almost every call we do to meter areas for toxic gases in the area including carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide. A rotary saw, chainsaw, scene lighting, and chocking used to stabilize vehicles during patient extrication or hazardous scenes.

Equipment as such is what continues to make our jobs easier to provide the service we do to the Town of Ware and its surroundings communities.

We do it safely, we do it effectively.

Thank you to the Department of Fire Services for awarding us this grant. Thank you to the Ware River News for the story and providing photos.

Congratulations to our very own FireFighter/EMT Gavin Rohan for his completion of the 10 week career recruit academy program through the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy class S45. We are so proud of his dedication to the Town of Ware and the Ware Fire Department. Over the last 10 weeks Gavin has passed and succeeded in all academic and physical requirements to be a pro-board certified FireFighter for the state of Massachusetts and we are excited to welcome him back on shift to continue his career. Being with Ware Fire since 2022, Gavin had previously proven his dedication through the Call/Volunteer academy in 2023 and was promoted to a full time position in 2025. Job well done and thank you for all you've done!! We cant wait to have you back.
