ACTIVE SHOOTER OPERATIONS COURSE
This week, we successfully conducted our 16-hour Active Shooter Operations Course, bringing together emergency service professionals from multiple disciplines to strengthen our collective preparedness and response capabilities.
The goal of this program is to bridge the gap between law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other emergency response partners by emphasizing coordination, communication, and unified operations during active threat incidents.
Throughout the course, participants explored several critical areas:
🔹 Lessons learned from real world active shooter incidents
🔹 Rescue Task Force (RTF) operations
🔹 Incident management and interagency coordination
🔹 K-9 and specialized response considerations
🔹 Care Beyond the Barrier – Expanding lifesaving medical care in challenging operational environments
🔹 Tabletop scenarios, practical exercises, and hands-on training
This course goes beyond traditional tactical training. Our focus is on operational coordination, critical decision making, communication, and understanding how each discipline contributes to an effective response.
Active threat incidents are rapidly evolving, high stress situations that demand more than individual agency capabilities. They require responders to understand one another’s roles, work within a unified command structure, and make coordinated decisions when seconds matter.
This program was developed with valuable input and collaboration from multiple agencies and emergency service disciplines, incorporating real world experiences, lessons learned, and operational best practices.
A special thank you to our instructors, participating agencies, and everyone who contributed to the development and delivery of this program.
Our message is simple:
Successful active threat response is not just about tactics. It is about teamwork, communication, coordination, and a unified commitment to saving lives.
Train Together. Respond Together. Save Lives.
