🚗 National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week | September 20–26

This week, the Warren Police Department joins agencies across Rhode Island in recognizing National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week.

“As your children grow, keep them safe by updating their car seat or child restraint based on their height, weight, and age.”

Choosing the appropriate car seat or restraint and making sure it is properly installed can make all the difference. Take a moment to review the different stages below and make sure your child is riding safely every time you hit the road.

We would like to thank our friends at Crestwood Nursing Home for inviting members of our day shift to join them for their end-of-summer cookout!

The food was delicious, and our officers enjoyed spending time with the residents and staff. We’re always grateful for opportunities like this to connect with members of our community outside of our everyday duties.

Thank you to everyone at Crestwood for the warm welcome and great hospitality!

Happy National Police Woman’s Day!

Today, we recognize the women who serve in law enforcement and the important role they play in keeping our communities safe.

Here at the Warren Police Department, we are proud to recognize Detective Beaulieu and Patrolwoman Schoenfeldt. Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the Town of Warren are reflected in the work they do each day.

We thank them, and all women in law enforcement, for their continued service and dedication.

On September 8th, the Warren Police Department was proud to receive our reaccreditation award from the Rhode Island Police Accreditation Commission (RIPAC).

This recognition reflects our department’s continued commitment to professionalism, accountability, and maintaining the highest standards and best practices in law enforcement. Accreditation is an ongoing process that requires careful review of department policies, procedures, and operations to ensure we continue to meet established professional standards.

This reaccreditation is also a reflection of the continued efforts of every member of the Warren Police Department. We are proud to once again receive this recognition and remain committed to providing the highest level of service to the Town of Warren and our community.

This morning, members of the Warren Police Department gathered at the Town Wharf alongside our partners at the Warren Fire Department - Warren, RI to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Members of the Warren Police Honor Guard raised and lowered the flags in tribute, while Police Chief Roy Borges and Fire Chief James Sousa laid a wreath in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their courage, remember their sacrifice, and ensure their legacy is never forgotten.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and countless others who answered the call that day.

May we never forget those we lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the strength and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

We will never forget.

🎒📚 WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL! 📚🎒

Tomorrow marks the first day of school, and the Warren Police Department would like to welcome back all of the students, teachers, staff, and families of the Bristol Warren Regional School District! We hope everyone has a safe, successful, and enjoyable school year!

We’re also excited to introduce our new School Resource Officer, Officer Collin Freitas! Officer Freitas will be a familiar face each day at Kickemuit Middle School and Hugh Cole School, working with students and staff to help maintain a safe and positive school environment.

Officer Freitas has been a member of the Warren Police Department for four years and brings a unique skill set to our schools, as he is also a certified Advanced EMT and firefighter. He looks forward to getting to know our students, families, and school staff throughout the year. If you see him in the hallways or around campus, be sure to say hello!

As everyone gets back into the school routine tomorrow, we have a few reminders:

🚸 Slow down and stay alert around our schools, crosswalks, and bus stops.

🚌 Watch for school buses and always stop when required for flashing red lights.

🚗 Parents and guardians: Please familiarize yourselves with the new drop-off and pick-up procedures at our schools and follow the directions of school staff and officers.

⏰ Give yourself some extra time and exercise patience, especially during the first few days as everyone adjusts to the new procedures and traffic patterns.

📵 Keep your eyes on the road and your phone away, particularly during busy arrival and dismissal times.

We ask everyone to please be patient tomorrow morning and throughout the first few days of school. A little extra time, attention, and cooperation will go a long way toward keeping our students safe and making arrival and dismissal run smoothly.

Welcome back! Have a great first day and an even better school year!

DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER

Drunk drivers are involved in approximately 1/3 of all traffic crash fatalities in the United States. These crashes are preventable, and the decision to drive impaired can have life-changing consequences.

The Warren Police Department reminds motorists to make responsible choices before getting behind the wheel. If your plans involve alcohol, plan ahead for a safe ride home. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or call a friend or family member.

Our officers remain committed to keeping Warren’s roadways safe by identifying and removing impaired drivers from the road.

Don’t be a statistic. Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
