⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Don’t turn your savings into gold for a stranger.

A troubling scam is targeting older adults by convincing them that their bank account, identity or money is in danger. The scammer may pretend to be from a bank, government agency or law enforcement and instruct the victim to withdraw money, purchase gold bars, and hand them over to a “courier” for safekeeping.

Legitimate agencies will not ask you to protect your money by buying gold and giving it to someone.

If you receive a call like this:
• Hang up.
• Do not withdraw money.
• Do not buy gold, gift cards or cryptocurrency.
• Contact your bank or local law enforcement using a number you know is legitimate.

Please talk with older family members and friends about this scam. A quick conversation could prevent a devastating loss.
Stay informed. Stay alert. Help us spread the word by sharing this post with your family, friends and community.

Sergeant Aaron Chase enjoyed volunteering for Perry Central School District’s Annual Pumkin Walk, setting up a table for local children to trick-or-treat. Magic was in the air when Harry Potter himself showed up to help!

Thank you, Sergeant Chase, for taking the time to connect with the community and help make this a memorable night for all!
