Citizens to Maintain Gray

Directions

Citizens to Maintain Gray Organized to oppose Methadone Clinic in our Community operated by ETSU & Ballard Health. AND to provide info for the membership to make informed decisions.

Sadly, February 14, 2012, (Valentines Day) was the beginning of the end for the Community of Gray. The Johnson City Regional planning commission showed NO LOVE for the citizens of Gray on that date by voting to proceed with the annexation of 300 acres of prime farm land, some of which has been in the Families for 4 generations or more. It also includes single family homes of many retirees, low income condos, and a few commercial buildings. Many of Grays' citizens were in attendance and spoke in opposition to the to the destruction of our way of life but it essentially fell on deaf ears as the commission voted 6 to 1 to continue the ex*****on and forward it to the Johnson City Commission. Their belief is that the city government knows what is best for its uninformed potential TAX Payers and is doing the annexation in our best interest. Where have you heard this before? If this annexation proceeds to fruition, it is unclear how long Gray will continue to exist as the community we love as Johnson City will surely continue to consume our land and our way of life.

There is a proposed "Beer Garden" to operate on the Appalachian Fair Grounds for the upcoming Fair.

Why did Mayor Grandy request the County Commission to schedule a hearing during the middle of the day on August 3 at 2:30?

Could it have anything to do with two $1,600 contributions to his campaign by the applicants?
What is the criteria in determining when a patron is "intoxicated?"

Who will be liable if a patron leaves The Fair Grounds after enjoying brews in the "beer garden" and is involved in a catastrophic accident?

Who will be maintaining security by monitoring the ages of participants?

There is no guarantee that overly zealous teenagers will not breach the entrance.

Prime example of the behavior of a crowd that has been having multiple beers, the University of Tennessee vs Ole Miss football game last season. Slightly intoxicated students were determined to be responsible for the debris thrown on the field during the game.

If you're concerned about these questions or have other concerns, please find a way to be at the meeting on August 3 or contact your County Commissioners.

Thanks

A petition to have a traffic light inserted at the intersection of Sam Jenkins Rd and Suncrest Dr (Hwy 75 at the Hands On Museum) is being circulated. It's a matter of safety due to the increased through traffic on Suncrest Dr and the numerous subdivisions and the elementary school traffic.

If you would like to assist in
getting signatures, please call (423)773-7819. Leave message. Thanks.
