“Jeffersonville Field of Dreams” Mural Brings New Life to Jeffersonville Park

A vibrant new mural now brightens the Jeffersonville community as artist Sandy Kessler Kaminski has completed an 8 foot by 24 foot acrylic artwork on the corrugated metal shed at Jeffersonville Park. The mural, titled “Jeffersonville Field of Dreams,” celebrates the village’s small town traditions, its resilience, and the generations who have learned teamwork, pride, and perseverance on these fields.

The project grew from a collaborative design process involving Stephanie Stewart with the Village of Jeffersonville, Stephanie Dunham with the Fayette County Travel & Tourism Bureau, and Kate Wells, who contributed during her time with OSU Extension as a Community Development Educator. Feedback from Village Council helped shape the final concept to ensure it reflected the community’s voice and vision.

The mural transforms the storage shed into a dynamic baseball scene at dusk. The foreground features a detailed ballfield—bright green outfield grass, well defined baselines, and home plate—while a sweeping display of fireworks lights up the night sky above. Those fireworks also incorporate the new Fayette County icon, blending local branding with artistic expression. A personalized scoreboard mirrors the real scoreboard used at the park, grounding the piece in Jeffersonville’s familiar landscape and longtime athletic traditions.

Wells notes that the mural represents more than a game—it symbolizes community identity and continuity. The ballfields at Jeffersonville Park have long been the place where residents found their footing: where many first built confidence, formed friendships, and learned what it means to be part of a team. It is a tribute to Jeffersonville’s past, present, and future.

The project was made possible through generous support from Amazon, the Ohio Arts Council, and the Fayette County Travel & Tourism Bureau. Their investment in public art reflects a belief in the power of creativity to inspire connection, strengthen local identity, and enhance the spaces where people gather.

“This mural is truly about who we are as a community—our history, our traditions, and our hopes for what comes next,” project partners shared. With its vibrant colors, local symbolism, and heartfelt message, the “Jeffersonville Field of Dreams” mural is expected to become a signature landmark for residents and visitors alike.

Amazon produced an article to update on their operations and priorities moving forward and asked the county to share it with the community. The County Commissioners nor staff are the authors of the article nor are they serving as a fact-checkers. But, the County Commissioners are happy with the working relationship we have with AWS in our community.

Amazon's commitment to community-focused data center development, plus introducing Built Together, a new investment program for data center communities.

Fayette County is embarking on the creation of a new Land Use Plan, a community-driven effort that will translate the priorities and vision established through the Fayette County Strategic Plan into a long-term framework for land use, development, agricultural preservation, and investment across the county.

As economic expansion and new development opportunities continue to emerge, the Land Use Plan will guide how and where growth should occur while protecting the qualities that make Fayette County a great place to live, work, and do business. The plan will address topics such as future development patterns, infrastructure needs, economic development opportunities, farmland and natural resource conservation, and community character.

Engagement with residents, business owners, property owners, local officials, and community stakeholders will shape the planning process. Through workshops, meetings, surveys, and other opportunities for participation, Fayette County will work to ensure the plan reflects local priorities and creates a framework for informed decision-making in the years ahead.

The effort builds on the Fayette County Strategic Plan, completed in November 2025. Developed with public input, the Strategic Plan established six goals and 13 priorities to guide decision-making, resource allocation, and initiatives that support the County's longterm success. One of the plan's key priorities was completing a countywide Land Use Plan.

While the Strategic Plan focuses on organizational and operational priorities, the Land Use Plan will provide detailed guidance on how Fayette County grows and develops in the years ahead.
"The Strategic Plan established a clear vision and direction for Fayette County's future," said Dr. Kate Wells, Fayette County Administrator. "The Land Use Plan is the next step in
that work, helping us translate that vision into thoughtful policies and strategies for growth, development, infrastructure, and conservation.

We encourage residents, businesses, and
community partners to participate in the process and help shape how that vision is put into action across Fayette County. Now is the time to think intentionally about our community's next 20 years."
This project is unique from previous Land Use Plans in that it is a joint endeavor across local jurisdictions, designed to ensure the final product reflects priorities that all localities
support as new development opportunities emerge.

As this collaborative effort moves forward, community leaders emphasize that the plan’s strength lies in its shared vision. By coordinating across boundaries and embracing unified goals, the region aims to guide growth in a way that is purposeful, sustainable, and beneficial for all who call it home.

Strategic Plan Spotlight: Expand Broadband

Reliable, high-speed internet is an important part of connecting Fayette County residents, businesses, and communities. Efforts are underway to expand broadband infrastructure and improve access across the county.

🔹 Investing in Infrastructure 🔹
Fayette County has invested $300,000 in broadband infrastructure through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, helping support the expansion of high-speed internet throughout the community.

🔹 Expanding Access 🔹
The County Engineer's Office continues working with broadband providers to facilitate the installation of new lines across Fayette County. Easement access and permitting help providers extend their networks into areas that may not currently have reliable high-speed internet.

🔹 Looking Ahead 🔹
As broadband providers continue expanding their networks, Fayette County is working to identify areas that remain underserved and support continued infrastructure investment. Expanding access will help connect more residents and businesses to the resources they need.
