Proudly Serving Northeast Ohio

I appreciated the opportunity to join the Ohio Environmental Council for a meaningful conversation on lowering costs, environmental justice, and legislative solutions. Unfortunately, our poorest neighborhoods are also the most polluted.

Just when we were making progress on expanding clean energy, lowering energy bills, and investing in overlooked communities, the Trump Administration pulled the plug, including killing federal funds for solar for local schools and asthma prevention programs. That’s fine for oil companies, but bad for everyone else.

At the event, I was proud to connect again with Stevie Williams of our OH-11 Youth Advisory Council – her capstone project was on data centers, which driven up energy bills for families and created additional pollution. Ohioans deserve better.

Last night, I met with Faith Leaders from across Northeast Ohio to discuss the assault on Black voting rights taking place across the country and outline how the Congressional Black Caucus is fighting back.

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling to overturn much of the Voting Rights Act, Republican-led states across the South are racing to redraw maps and eliminate majority-Black districts from Memphis to Baton Rouge to Atlanta. It’s an attempt to take us backwards and to erase Black votes and representation, and they’re proving why we needed the VRA in the first place. One of the most powerful tools we had to fight gerrymandering and racial discrimination at the ballot box is gone.

Restoring voting rights will, and must be, a top legislative priority. This is a moment of truth, and we will not stop until the promise of this democracy is fully realized for everyone.

Thank you to Pastor Aaron Phillips and Pastor Larry Macon for organizing this important meeting.

Trump wants to use taxpayer dollars for a $1.8 BILLION slush fund to pay out his criminal allies, including the people who attacked the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Just a reminder on who those people are ⬇️

I’m standing with to urge Corporate America to denounce the efforts to dismantle Black representation in the South. Companies shouldn’t be allowed to profit off of us while funding our erasure.

When you remain silent, you enable the actions tearing us down.
