🇺🇸🇹🇷 U.S.–Türkiye Relations: A Partnership Shaped by History, Tested by Challenges, and Still Critical for the Future.
This timeline is more than history — it is a reminder of how deeply connected the United States and Türkiye have been for nearly 80 years.
From the Truman Doctrine in 1947…
to fighting side-by-side in Korea…
to Türkiye becoming a key NATO ally in 1952…
to today’s cooperation on defense, trade, energy, counterterrorism, and regional stability — the U.S.–Türkiye relationship has helped shape global security for generations.
Yes, there have been disagreements:
▪️ Cyprus
▪️ Iraq War tensions
▪️ S-400 sanctions
▪️ Syria policy differences
▪️ F-35 disputes
But true strategic alliances are not built on perfect agreement. They are built on long-term shared interests, geography, security cooperation, and mutual necessity.
Today, the world is becoming more unstable:
⚠️ Russia–Ukraine war
⚠️ Iran tensions
⚠️ Middle East instability
⚠️ Black Sea security risks
⚠️ Energy corridor competition
⚠️ Rising global polarization
And once again, Washington is realizing something important:
There is no realistic NATO, Black Sea, Middle East, or regional security strategy without Türkiye.
For Turkish Americans, this is also a reminder that our voices matter. Others are actively shaping narratives about Türkiye in Congress, media, academia, and schools every single day.
That is why civic engagement, education, advocacy, and visibility are more important than ever before.
The future of U.S.–Türkiye relations should not be defined only by crises and disagreements — but by shared security, economic cooperation, diplomacy, innovation, and peace.
🤝 Allies for Peace. Partners for Prosperity.

Take Action: Stop the Dangerous “Türkiye Is the Next Iran” Narrative
Some political voices and media figures are now pushing the false and harmful idea that “Türkiye is becoming the next Iran.” This rhetoric is misleading, irresponsible, and dangerous for U.S. national security and NATO stability.
Türkiye is a longtime NATO ally with the second-largest military in the alliance and remains critical to regional security, counterterrorism, energy routes, and global diplomacy.
🇹🇷🇺🇸 Turkish Americans must speak up now.
Send a message to Congress and support a stronger U.S.–Türkiye alliance before damaging misinformation shapes future policy decisions.
Your voice matters. Support Türkiye. Support strategic partnership. Support truth.

Hulya Erol-Garvett was pleased to reconnect with Congressman Nathaniel Moran at the NRCC Winter Event. 🇺🇸
Congressman Moran represents Texas’s 1st Congressional District in Northeast Texas and brings a strong mix of public- and private-sector experience. He attended West Point and later earned a BA, MBA, and law degree from Texas Tech. Before Congress, he served in local leadership roles—including the Tyler City Council and as Smith County Judge. (moran.house.gov) (Congress.gov)
In Washington, Congressman Moran serves on the House Ways and Means Committee—the House’s chief tax-writing committee—and is also part of the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. (moran.house.gov) (clerk.house.gov)
During our conversation, we discussed practical, pro-growth approaches that can help attract new businesses and long-term investment to regions like East Texas, including:
🔹 Pro-business tax policy priorities
100% immediate expensing
~23% Qualified Business Income (QBI) deduction
R&D tax incentives for innovative companies
🔹 Regulatory improvements
Reducing unnecessary federal regulations
Faster permitting for infrastructure, energy, and development projects
🔹 Global trade & export growth
Supporting U.S. businesses seeking to expand internationally
🔹 “Rural Opportunity Zone”–type initiatives
Encouraging long-term investment in underserved and high-potential regions
While many of these are policy-driven, there are also real, actionable programs available right now through federal, state, and local channels:
- Opportunity Zones (Investment Incentives)

- USDA Rural Development Programs (loans, grants, business support)

- Texas Economic Development & Business Incentives

It was a productive, forward-looking discussion—especially important for the TCUSAPAC community and Turkish Americans who care deeply about entrepreneurship, job creation, and stronger U.S.–Türkiye commercial ties. We emphasized the importance of international partnerships and the strategic role of Türkiye in global trade and investment.
Looking forward to continued collaboration and stronger economic bridges. 🇺🇸🇹🇷

I’m a teacher, mom, and community leader running for the CUSD Governing Board in 2026.
In 2024, we came within 1.31% of winning a seat and gained more than 46,000 votes. That's why today, I'm proud to announce I am officially running once more for the CUSD board!
CUSD is one of the top districts in the country, but we have room to grow to support the 40,000 students that attend the district. I'm excited to share my vision with the thousands of families we serve here at CUSD!

Hulya Erol-Garvett had the opportunity to meet with Congressman Benjamin Cline during the NRCC Winter Event in Key Biscayne.
Congressman Cline represents Virginia’s 6th Congressional District, covering the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding regions. Prior to his election to Congress, he built a strong professional background as an attorney, small business owner, and former member of the Virginia House of Delegates. In Congress, he serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Judiciary Committee, where he focuses on issues including fiscal responsibility, economic growth, constitutional governance, and national security.
During this initial meeting, Hulya Erol-Garvett introduced herself on behalf of TC-USAPAC and shared insights about the Turkish American community across the United States. The conversation highlighted the community’s growing contributions to business, culture, and civic life, as well as the importance of fostering strong U.S.–Türkiye relations and continued dialogue on areas of mutual interest.
This meeting reflects ongoing efforts to build meaningful connections and strengthen engagement between policymakers and the Turkish American community.
