In case you missed it, PPADMV was in the US Capitol last week meeting with elected officials, discussing ways to safeguard reproductive rights in the region and nationally.

There is a lot of work ahead of us when it comes to protecting access to abortion and other essential sexual and reproductive health care, and we are grateful to have met with leaders on this matter. A huge thank you to Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD-5), Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD-4), and Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD-8), and their respective offices for holding space with the PPADMV board!

We're not backing down.

The fight for freedom over our bodies and our futures isn't over yet, no matter the frustrating results from the 2024 Election. PPADMV will continue advocating for you and your communities, and won't stop until EVERYONE can access the sexual and reproductive health care that they need. No election results will change that.

You did it, Maryland! The Reproductive Freedom amendment passed thanks to voters, volunteers, and our friends Freedom in Reproduction Maryland who worked tirelessly to protect bodily autonomy in the state. Not just now, but for future generations of Marylanders.

When abortion is on the ballot, it wins. 🏆

That includes in Maryland, where reproductive rights came out victorious with the newly passed Reproductive Freedom amendment. Thanks to Maryland voters, the future of abortion, IVF, and birth control access is now safeguarded within the state with the strongest protections possible.

A statement from Erin Bradley, Executive Director of PPADMV, on SCOTUS's decision to allow the purging of Virginia voter rolls:

"Planned Parenthood Advocates for DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia strongly condemns the Supreme Court’s upholding of a state program that purges registered voters from its registration polls. Any effort to disenfranchise voters, especially this close to an election, is a step backwards in a democratic system.

“To all of those who are eligible to vote in Virginia, it is important you know your rights. If you are an eligible voter who has unjustly been removed from these rolls, you can still vote! Virginia allows voters to register on the same day they vote, meaning you can re-register and make your voice heard at the polls."

📣 Virginia voters: you still have the right to vote, and there's still ways to cast your ballot in the 2024 election if you were purged.

First, check your registration status: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation

Then, learn about same day registration and casting a provisional ballot: https://www.elections.virginia.gov/registration/same-day-voter-registration/

And when you're at the poll, make sure to know your voting rights: https://www.acluva.org/voters-rights

Home Same day registration refers to the ability to register to vote in-person and immediately vote a provisional ballot after the deadline to register and vote a non-provisional ballot has passed.
