A St. Paul, Minnesota, man was sentenced to more than 9 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possessing fi****ms as a felon and for possession with the intent to distribute m**hamphetamine. On March 22, 2021, officers with the Eagan Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop and arrest Joshua Cameron Hanes, 32, on an outstanding felony warrant. Hanes tried to flee from officers, but he smashed into one of the squad cars and was taken into custody. Officers searched his vehicle and recovered two bags of m**h weighing a total of 198 grams, and a loaded 9 mm pistol which had been reported stolen in Hudson, Wisconsin. In September, Hanes pleaded guilty to one count of possessing a firearm as a felon and one count of possession with the intent to distribute m**hamphetamine. Because he has prior felony convictions, Hanes is prohibited from possessing fi****ms or ammunition at any time.
