💙 THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE MISSION: MEET DANIELA! ✨

Sometimes, the most powerful stories come full circle. 💫

Meet Daniela Romualdo Castro, College Bound’s Program Coordinator!

Daniela’s journey with College Bound began as a student intern. She later joined the program as a high school student, experiencing first hand the impact of having a community that believes in your potential. Today, she’s giving that same support back to the next generation of students.

🎓 A graduate of Trinity Washington University with a degree in Communications, Daniela is a first-generation American and first-generation college graduate. Her experiences help her connect with students navigating their own educational journeys and inspire her to create programs that support their growth and success.

For Daniela, the work is personal. She knows what it means to be supported, encouraged, and given opportunities to succeed. Now, she helps make those opportunities possible for others.

Her story reminds us that when we invest in students, we invest in the people they will become and the communities they will one day serve. 💙💛

What a morning. 💙💛
Our 2026 Annual Honors Breakfast brought together alumni, mentors, board members, and supporters to celebrate the people who make the College Bound mission possible.
From Board Chair Anthony Motley’s welcome to a special performance by College Bound alumna Lalibela, we heard stories that reminded us why this work matters.
We also heard from Executive Director Kenneth Ward, mentor and donor Ellen, alumna Daniela, parent Olga, and alumna Essence, each sharing a different perspective on the impact of College Bound.
The breakfast may be over, but the mission continues.
Your support helps DC students access scholarships, mentorship, academic support, and the opportunities they need to get to and through college.

📊 AMP by the Numbers
The impact of College Bound’s Academic Mentoring Program can be seen in the numbers, but behind every number is a student with a story, a goal, and a future.
AMP is serving 185 students across 9 school sites, with 87% student retention from the 2025–26 school year. Our students represent communities across DC and beyond, including 44% first-generation college students and 32% first-generation Americans.
These numbers represent the students who show up, grow, and keep moving forward. 💙

Every student’s journey is different—and every step forward matters. 💙 Today, we’re celebrating Christopher’s journey with College Bound’s AMP, where encouragement, guidance, and opportunities have helped him continue growing academically and confidently. From SAT Prep and STEM in Your Hood tutoring to navigating the challenges of Banneker Academic High School, Christopher continues to advocate for himself, embrace support, and work toward his goals. We’re proud to walk alongside our students as they grow, challenge themselves, and become the best versions of themselves. 💙

🚀 MediTech Meets Amazon!
Yesterday, our students had an exciting opportunity to step inside the world of Amazon and explore how technology can be used to solve real-world challenges. 💻✨
Through hands-on discussions, teamwork, and problem-solving activities, students got to learn more about Amazon, collaborate with one another, and think creatively about how technology can make a difference.
From asking questions to developing ideas, our students showed curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to take on new challenges. 🌟
A big thank you to Amazon for welcoming our students and creating an inspiring learning experience!
