At the Les Aspin Center for Government, our students have the opportunity to take a variety of five-week one-credit courses throughout the semester. This fall, adjunct professor and Senator Chuck Schumer’s Chief of Staff, Mike Lynch, invited Aspin students to the Senator’s office for his class, Managing Congress.

This class focuses on the structure of a congressional office and the roles each staff member plays. Throughout the course, students learn what it takes to be a chief of staff on the Hill by balancing budgets, hiring a team, navigating conflict resolution, and tackling the everyday challenges of working in a fast-paced environment.
