Marc Nichols | Federal Aviation Administration 01/11/2022

Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to announce that today I accepted the President’s appointment as the new Chief Counsel (General Counsel) of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the third highest ranking official (after the Administrator and Deputy Administrator) at the agency. I was sworn into office this morning.

No doubt you’ve seen news reports of all of the challenges confronting the aviation industry around the globe, which I’m now in the thick of. I will try to do my best in service to the country, and thank you all immensely for your support and encouragement over the years, through this process, and in the future.

Finally, as anyone who has served the public knows, the sacrifice you make in service isn’t one you do alone. Your family makes the sacrifices with you. I want to thank my family, especially Jamie, for vicariously serving and sacrificing for our country with me.

Now, back to work!
