Malu is studying Greenlandic and Arctic studies at Copenhagen University. Malu is going to be at the representation until January 2026.

Today we celebrate the UNESCO’s International Mother Language Day. It’s a reminder to protect and preserve linguistic diversity, and promote the use of mother tongues.

Did you know the dialects in Greenland are mainly divided into four: the Thule dialect, East Greenlandic dialect, West Greenlandic dialect, and the South Greenlandic dialect.

Our language and dialects are very much alive and kicking, and is used in all levels in society🇬🇱

On this special occasion we would like to thank our delegates once again for their great participation to the ICC Delegates Meeting in Ilulissat, Greenland this summer.

Although a big gathering we missed our fellow Inuit from Chukotka, who were not able to travel to Greenland in person. In 2006 at the ICC General Assembly, held in Utqiagvik, Alaska, ICC was instructed to “annually proclaim November 7th, the birth date of ICC visionary, Eben Hopson, Sr., as Inuit Day, and to urge all Inuit governments, agencies, and communities to annually proclaim this day as Inuit Day, and conduct appropriate ceremonies and celebrations.”

Issues of importance such as the area of energy were highlighted as well as potential collaboration among Inuit in Canada and Greenland on the green transition.
