Today we are celebrating winner, the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History! In Kennesaw, Georgia, success is measured not only by what visitors learn, but by the questions they carry with them when they leave.

In the face of overwhelming danger, James E. Williams demonstrated extraordinary heroism as a U.S. Navy leader during the Vietnam War. Awarded the Medal of Honor and numerous additional commendations, he is widely considered the most decorated enlisted sailor in U.S. Navy history. His service reflects South Carolina’s deep military tradition and commitment to duty. His legacy continues to inspire courage and excellence in today’s armed forces.

At Cowpens National Battlefield, Daniel Morgan and his troops delivered a crucial blow to British forces and strengthened the Patriot position in the Southern Campaign. Their brilliant victory ultimately led to General Cornwallis and the British Army’s surrender at Yorktown.

Dedicated in memory of local philanthropist Glenn Mengle, recipient, the Mengle Memorial Library has served Brockway, Pennsylvania, for generations. Today, families arrive with strollers and leave with armfuls of books, while teens come in for book club and stay to talk to the person at the front desk. Built to grow alongside the community, Mengle Memorial Library has made it its mission to ensure every resident—from the youngest preschooler to the most devoted regular—has a reason to walk through the door.
