🇨🇺 THE WORLD STANDS WITH CUBA!

This morning a picket was held outside of the White House in Washington DC to stand with the hundreds of countries that condemned the U.S. blockade on Cuba.

The United States continues to asphyxiate Cuba through a genocidal blockade. The people in the U.S. are waking up and demanding that Cuba be treated as a neighbor not a threat!

As outgoing, DC mayor, Muriel Bowser seals her legacy as Trump collaborator and surrender of DC home rule. In her last month, she has allowed the continued destruction of BLM Plaza, a site that she was forced to allow the creation of through the mass uprisings against racism in 2020.

Tonight we hosted a discussion in DC on why socialists run in capitalist-run elections, with surrogates from the socialist campaigns in Massachusetts and the Bronx.

Elections are a moment to show the necessity of socialism and help build a movement to achieve it. But they aren’t the end of political struggle needed to bring about systemic change.

Socialist campaigns serve as a means to disrupt the two party, one capitalist system dynamic, and bring people into the movement for socialism. When socialists run, masses of people can witness the socialist program as not only realizable, but an imperative necessity.

Students and workers in France have been in the streets fighting against austerity cuts and state neglect for more than a month. Across Europe, to India and beyond, students and youth are in motion fighting for a better world.

French students are in the streets, and the state is answering with tear gas and arrests.

The reason is simple: the money is going to war. Macron is doubling the military budget while schools fall apart, classrooms overflow, and teachers vanish.

It’s the same playbook in the U.S. Trump wants $1.5 TRILLION for the military and cuts to public schools, heating assistance, and medical research to help pay for it. While the Department of Education is pushed toward elimination, the Pentagon gets a blank check.

Austerity at home. War abroad. Same ruling class, same budget, same crisis.

The students in France aren’t confused about what they’re fighting. They know their futures are being traded for bombs. We stand with them, and we say: fund schools, not war!
