U.S. Intellectual Property Attaché Pete Mehravari Details U.A.E.'s Embrace of IP Protections at a working lunch hosted by the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council yesterday. The U.S. Commerce Department’s Attaché for the MENA Region, Peter Mehravari, underscored the incredible progress the U.A.E. has continued to make in protecting intellectual property nearly one year following the nation's removal from the 's Special Watch List. Peter lauded in particular the 's recent initiatives with regard to pharmaceutical IP protections, the crackdown on counterfeit goods, and improving licensing of music.

Leadership from U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council members featured prominently in the first-ever ranking of the Forbes Top 50 Healthcare Leaders in the MENA region. Shaista Asif from ADQ subsidiary Pure Health, Alaa Adel from Cerner Corporation, Ehab Zawaideh from GE Healthcare , Ashraf Malek from Merck, Hasan Jasem Al Nowais from Mubadala Health, Patrick Van Der Loo from Pfizer, and Ayman Mokhtar from Viatris all made the list. Forbes released their first ranking of the “Middle East’s Top 50 Healthcare Leaders”, recognizing senior executives from healthcare organizations that are shaping the lives of millions of people during one of the most difficult times hitting the world with the coronavirus.

The US-UAE Business Council thanks the Expo 2020 Dubai organizers, the USA Pavilion team, and the Council’s many partners and members for their contributions to the success of its programming. Please see some of our Expo moments in the video below.
Expo 2020 Dubai concluded last week with close to 23 million visits from around the world. According to USA Expo 2020 organizers, the USA Pavilion welcomed 1.2 million visitors and guests, and hosted events at the Pavilion that brought together over 10,000 attendees. The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council generated 10% of the total attendees that participated in Pavilion events.

Leading international law firm and U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council Founding Member Morgan Lewis analyzes some of the policy and legal strategies of the in a new Council study on the Projects of the 50 and their implementation. This study is the third in a series of reports on the landmark Projects of the 50 initiative that seeks to double the size of the U.A.E. economy over the next decade and to “create the most dynamic economy in the world.”
The report offers opinion on the changes being implemented, outlines some of the immediate challenges faced, and addresses what further measures are required to achieve the Projects’ goals.

Council Update: U.A.E. Consul General Promotes Trade and Investment Ties with New Jersey 03/17/2022

H.E. Amna Binzaal Almheiri, Consul General of the U.A.E. in New York, discussed ways to expand trade and commercial ties between the U.A.E. and the Garden State during a 16 March 2022 visit to Newark and Trenton. The Business Council participated in this visit, which involved meetings with New Jersey Department of State New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Way, Choose New Jersey, Inc. CEO Wes Matthews, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, the New Jersey-Israel Commission, and prominent New Jersey-based indoor vertical farming company AeroFarms, an important member of the The The U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council.
