A huge shoutout to our very own Flotilla Commander, Aaron Adkins, in being awarded the Coast Guard Auxiliary Commendation Medal (ACM) today at Coast Guard Headquarters in DC. Mr. Adkins was cited for outstanding achievement while serving as the Lead Auxiliary Copy Editor in support of the publication of the Commandant Instructions. In his role, he supported publication of over 50 directives!

๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‚Happy Birthday U.S. Coast Guard!๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰

The U.S. Coast Guard, established in 1790 by Alexander Hamilton as the Revenue Cutter Service, is the nation's oldest continuous seagoing service.

Initially tasked with enforcing tariff laws and preventing smuggling, it merged with the U.S. Life-Saving Service in 1915, forming the modern-day Coast Guard. Throughout its history, the Coast Guard has expanded its roles to include search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, environmental protection, and homeland security.

During wartime, it operates as part of the U.S. Navy, participating in major conflicts including World War II and the Vietnam War.

Today, the Coast Guard remains a vital component of the Department of Homeland Security, safeguarding the nation's maritime interests.

Bravo Zulu to ENS Rytel, a One Washington Auxiliarist who was commissioned today after completing the U.S. Coast Guardโ€™s Reserve Officer Candidate Indoctrination program. This highly selective program recruits the very best talent in a wide variety of fields to lead our Reserve Component.

ENS Rytel and his 81 graduating classmates will now report to their respective units across the country to hone their skills and continue their service to the U.S. Coast Guard. Best wishes to all graduates and Semper Paratus!

Stay afloat safely by avoiding boating under the influence.
Identify a boat operator who will be the sober skipper and keep everyone safe.

The 2024 Operation Dry Water heightened awareness and enforcement three-day weekend is coming up July 4-6.
Boating under the influence of alcohol or drugs could cost you your life, someone else's life or the time, expense and shame of an arrest. And that's just to name a few.
Have a sober operator!

United States President Joe Biden issued a letter honoring the members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary on their 85th anniversary of service to the Nation. The United States Congress also issued a proclamation. Congratulations and thanks to the generations of patriotic Americans who have answered the call to serve.

BZ to Lt. Amanda Thrasher! The USCG values all people and thatโ€™s reflected in all of the ways that we work, both internally and externally. Thereโ€™s a place for you on !
๐Ÿซก๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

๐Ÿš Meet Lt. Amanda Thrasher ๐Ÿš, a Coast Guard pilot flying search and rescue missions that save hikers in mountainous rain-soaked coastal terrain and fishermen tossed by 30-foot seas. Thrasher strives day-to-day to infuse positive impact on personnel who serve in the countryโ€™s premier life-saving service. While dutiful LGBTQ+ military service members have historically not been able serve openly the Coast Guard is committed to building a stronger, unified military force.

To model inclusion, Thrasher is forthright about being q***r because she believes itโ€™s crucial her shipmates be exposed to positive, confident displays of pride. With courage and honesty, Thrasherโ€™s voice is helping inspire a culture of inclusion that promotes more diverse, collaborative work environments because she recognizes the value of representation. Whether operating at 10,000 feet or with boots planted safe on the ground, Lt. Thrasher is on a mission to help others fly on the wings of pride. ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ
