Summer will be here before you know it ☀️

Not every family has the opportunity to travel, attend camps, or plan big summer outings — but every child still deserves a summer filled with play, joy, and memories.

Through our Summer Fun campaign, you will bring that fun closer to home with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, water balloons, backyard games, and more for children in our family housing programs.

Donate items from our wish list to make summer special for the children in our care:

The Difference YOU Make: Lynn’s Story 05/18/2026

Overcoming the stigma and shame often associated with counseling is a vital part of the healing journey for survivors of domestic violence. As we close out May—Mental Health Awareness Month, we highlight House of Ruth's Domestic Violence Support Center (DVSC) through Lynn's story.

When Lynn came to the DVSC, her goals were simple but profound. Manage the stress of abuse. Learn patience. Stop feeling emotionally overwhelmed.

At the DVSC, survivors receive no-cost, confidential counseling from licensed trauma-informed counselors—no insurance required, no strings attached. It’s a safe space to unpack trauma and begin again.

Thanks to your support, Lynn is finding her voice again.

This Mother’s Day, we poured into the women who pour into everyone else.

Bozzuto, Deloitte, and Mu Lambda APA curated 200+ self-care gift bags filled with soothing bath soaks, nourishing skincare, and relaxing treats — and Target donated beauty products to make each one extra special. All delivered to the moms and caregivers across our programs serving single women and women with families.

Because every woman deserves a moment just for her.

Thank you, Bozzuto, Deloitte, Mu Lambda Alpha Phi Alpha, and Target for showing up for our moms and caregivers in the most beautiful way.

May is .

May this month remind you to take care of your mental health. To give yourself time. To ask for help when you need it.

For survivors of domestic violence, that time matters.

Sometimes, it takes space to understand the toll abuse has taken and to take that first step. When they’re ready, access to counseling can change everything.

House of Ruth’s Domestic Violence Support Center provides no-cost, unlimited, trauma-informed counseling—with no insurance required—making it the only outpatient provider of its kind in the region. Survivors ages 15+ can access confidential support through one-on-one sessions, groups, and community-based care, both in person and virtually.

Because everyone deserves the freedom to access mental health services without barriers or complexity.

📞 For inquiries about counseling support, contact the DVSC Hotline: 202-667-7001 ext. 515.
