When lawmakers return in June, they must choose "compassion over cruelty, accountability over unchecked power, and human dignity over political expediency."
"In this moment, love of neighbor requires more than rhetoric. It requires action."

New from FCNL's Priya Moran in Inkstick Media.
Violence + suffering are on the rise around the 🌍 as a result of Trump's cruel, senseless aid cuts.
As Congress makes spending decisions for the next fiscal year, it now has a choice: cement these harms, or get back to saving lives.
"The lives, dignity, and security of millions are at stake. Every life matters, and every dollar counts."

"America’s faith in war is a spiritual crisis — not just a political one."
📣 "With clear-eyed honesty we need to reckon with the devastating sorrow, depravation and senseless destruction that military violence inflicts on people who, despite political circumstance, share with us a common humanity, folks who are — according to the teachings of Jesus and the universal values of common decency — our neighbors and our spiritual kin to be loved, not enemies to be killed."
America’s faith in war is a spiritual crisis — not just a political one
(RNS) — Few of our preachers use their pulpits to call for an end to war, often because they are afraid to do so.

Congress is getting closer and closer to passing an Iran War Powers Resolution.
But why does it matter if Pres. Trump will just veto it?
FCNL's Hassan El-Tayab breaks down why these votes are crucial for peace -- even in ways we can't always immediately see. ⬇️

We are heartbroken and horrified by the shooting yesterday at the Islamic Center of San Diego. We are holding everyone impacted by this horrific attack in the Light and are sending love and solidarity to our Muslim friends everywhere.
Houses of worship are sacred spaces where everyone deserves to be safe.
As the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign said, "This shooting targeting San Diego’s largest mosque comes in the wake of heightened anti-Muslim rhetoric, including from elected officials."
"As people of faith, we affirm that every person possesses inherent dignity and we reject language which dehumanizes anyone — whether it is used to fuel violence here at home or to justify war abroad."
"We reject the scapegoating of our Muslims neighbors and we call on our elected leaders, fellow faith leaders, and all people of goodwill to stand shoulder to shoulder.”

As Pres. Trump visited China this week, we joined a broad coalition calling for U.S. leaders to prioritize peace, cooperation, and stability in U.S.-China relations, not dangerous and needless conflict.
Amid Trump-Xi Meeting, US Coalition Urges Congress to ‘Prioritize Peace’ and End ‘Confrontational Posture’ With China | Common Dreams
“Americans are increasingly supportive of US-China cooperation, while tensions with China do not serve American interests,” said dozens of anti-war groups as President Trump met with Chinese President Xi.

👏 Across the country, our message is resonating. It's time for Congress to invest our tax dollars in urgent human needs, not more disastrous war.
The pressure we've helped to build is making a real impact, with Congressional leaders halting plans to push through the Trump administration's request for some $200 billion more for war on Iran.
As FCNL's Bridget Moix wrote recently in RNS, "Could this be a turning point for Congress to rethink how it spends our taxpayer dollars and finally put people over the Pentagon? It can be if we make it so.”
But with tensions and violence once again escalating in the Middle East, we must keep up the momentum to make sure Congress hears loud and clear: not a penny more for war!

Did you know?
Mother's Day was originally envisioned as a day of peace, to honor and support mothers who lost sons and husbands to war.
